Glenfiddich | Solera Cask | 15 YO, 40%ABV

@GlenfiddichWhisky Solera, an auld acquaintance I’ve no’ forgot!

APPEARANCE: warm, golden amber with a yellow hue.

NOSE: popping the cork, there was a lot of phenols, therefor I decided to let this dram expose and release its true self. It was worth the wait! A salve for the sinuses; lovely malt characteristics, tobacco, honey, Demerara, wisps of oak, scents of cereal (similar to Shredded Wheat), and a delightful bonus of baked Bramley Apples.

PALATE: a great exponent of the basic foundations of so many colossal malts; malt, spices, pleasant soft sweetness (raisins and dried fruits), I get just the slightest suggestion of smoke, Rich Tea biscuits, oak, Sherry and the sensation of root ginger on the tongue. The Bourbon component has been tamed by the influence of the Solera cask. The finish was reasonable in length, with the vibrancy of ginger, malt, oak, and spiced egg custard.

This award-winning stalwart Monarch of the Glen never disappoints!

Sláinte Mhath! 🥃
