I always jump at the opportunity to indulge in the ubiquitous, Talisker 10!
I’ve had a special place in my heart for this classic stalwart dram, ever since my first visit to the Isle of Skye and Talisker, in 2014.
APPEARANCE: warm, golden, similar in colour to my favourite, Juanita’s corn tortilla chips. But for those scientifically inclined, hues of Tartrazine or Indian Yellow.
NOSE: directly from the bottle, peat smoke complemented by seaside aromatics; scents that remind me of a saltwater extinguished, beach campfire. In my tumbler, notes of citrus fruits, sea salt caramel, sultanas and an alluring smokiness.
PALATE: initial sweetness, that of a Soreen malt loaf, together with the spice of white pepper. At 46%, there is a decent amount of lip-tingling heat in this dram. Suddenly, you are swept away by a wave of coastal salinity and peat smoke, beautiful! This tipple has me reminiscing of my stay at the Marine House, in Portree. The crisp sea breeze and quaint, colourful harbour, a truly gorgeous setting. The finish is long, briney and swimmingly smoky, with a grain cereal quality. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this dram pairs fintastically with fresh seafood! 🤤🦪🦐🐟
Talisker 10 induces a craving for fresh seafood, especially freshly shucked oysters, namely the East Coast Beausoleils.
This #MadebytheSea dram, is sea-riously delish!
Sláinte! 🥃
