You can hear the angels sing, as the distillers do their thing in this divine place, situated between the Devils Elbow and the Devils Pulpit.
I could rewrite previous tales of Glengoyne, but those who know me best understand what this particular distillery, and Dumgoyne, mean to me. If you’re reading this, don’t speculate, challenge Dumgoyne and reward yourself at the Glengoyne Visitors Center!
APPEARANCE: a tone of pale yellow, resembling straw or wheat.
NOSE: genesis, in the beginning I found a pleasant sweetness of dried fruits, white grapes, pear, distinctive Christmas Pudding, Scottish Tablet, and a refreshing touch of Sherry (glad of the break from the smoke). Also, a comforting grain/barley malt aroma. Forgive me here, but I definitely seem to have the faintest hint of toasted, sweetened desiccated coconut. 🤔
PALATE: pleasant mouthfeel, the sweet dried fruits found in a traditional (Uncle Jimmy’s) Scottish fried Fruit Pudding, a decided Sherry influence, lingering spice (allspice), and a comforting maltiness. LOL, it really does have a similarity to Glengoyne’s own fudge.
Ah, the ascent to the coda! Sweet Sherry finish, with a malt influence, and an even pepperiness across the tongue.
I’m getting back on the right flight path after a quick gander at this dram, from the Glen of the Geese.
Glengoyne, always more foie gras than faux pas!
Sláinte! 🥃
